The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
