The star has donated the full amount of his £25k award prize money to the trust for venues, which works to preserve the UK's small music venues.

The star was given the award on mid-October as his third album the album was declared the top album of the past year.

He has decided to donate the funds to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the shows I performed around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – about one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help numerous local spots across the UK.

The donation helped spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties arising from water damage, fires and personal losses, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Some locations received financial assistance in modernizing amenities and technical equipment that directly benefitted performers and fans.

"The concept that funds from concerts in large arenas supports the local stages, where it all starts for artists like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.
